It comes with a 25 year limited warrantee. The Skeletool also has pliers, a bit driver, removable pocket clip, a carabiner and bottle opener. The blades are accessible from outside the body, which means they can be opened easily with only one hand. It has a stainless steel body and aluminum handle scales. The Leatherman Skeletool multi-tool is another EDC tool worth its money. The best multi tools on the market – our reviews and ranking Leatherman 830039 New Wave Multitool We have carefully reviewed a wide variety of multi-tools being offered at the market, and we have picked our top ten favorites for EDC multi-tools. Another thing to look for when picking the best multitool is to check if the tips of the pliers meet at one precise point. Naturally, you should consider getting a lighter and more compact model which you can easily carry around with you at all times. The good quality multi-tools have reliable locks for the blade or blades, so that they stay open while performing a task. The basic multi-tool has a quality stainless steel blade or blades which are easily folded in a solid outer construction, along with the other foldable tools in the set. Of course, if you want a more professional multi-tool which you will be using for your job or every day, you may want to invest in a more expensive one. In general, a good quality multi-tool with all the basic tools which you may need to use from time to time will cost you about $50 tops. When choosing the best multi tool, you as always should consider what you will be using it for, as well as the intensity of use you are planning for it. Even some steal prices on Milwaukee and Irwin tool bags (the good ones). For the everyday carry (EDC) purpose though, we will be focusing on the traditional foldable multi-tools. Many of the general hand tools from Allen and Armstrong are ridiculously cheap, good old stock from Irwin, Lenox, Dewalt, Pony/Jorgensen, Ideal, and there’s some stuff from Kobalt and Gearwrench and a handful of others as well. There’s some great stuff on there and some that is just a fun trip back in time to view again. They have an ebay store or you can browse and buy on their website, same pricing, little bit more selection on their site. I only mention this because I just ordered a bunch of stuff and apparently I’ll be getting one of these whether I wanted it or not. Looks like it’s probably on par with the stuff from Coast and many china brands (that is to say……serviceable with some attention). If you buy $50 of stuff they are sending a free cheapie multi-tool. Left field: if you or your son need some tools, Cripes Distributing has a lot of great NOS and US tools at liquidation pricing. Schrade also makes a superb inexpensive OTF knife. Also, the file in particular is super high alloy steel, so remember to keep a light coating of oil on it or it will rust before you blink twice. The only downside is that the lock on the tool is different than any other, and it’s a learning curve in that you have to both learn it, and remember it. This Schrade tool is it’s equal in all things but the price IMO. ![]() ![]() ![]() Unlike the Leatherman Titanium Charge which is too expensive to use. Love them for car carries and if I lose it I don’t care. I have multiples of both versions, and in fact, when the Chinesium models were on sale for $13 bought a crapload for christmas presents 2-3 years back. The identical multi they make is as good, if not better, than when it was USA made. Schrade went under and a chinese company bought them and moved the tooling to China. When Scrade was a domestic company, they were (literally) the most expensive tool on the market. The best budget multitool, hands down, is the Schrade “tough tool” at $19 and change.
